What I love about it is how Norwegians use it in almost any situation:

As I am looking back on hundreds of photos from the last few weeks I get humbled from all we have been able to experience.

I’ve been trying to stay present, been working less and connecting, eating and laughing more. I’ve got a new perspective on how life can be lived to the fully, and I’m working on rewire what I’ve known to be the truth about how I would want to live my life after this visit to beautiful Kerala🇮🇳

Do you live in Norway, or been visiting on a holiday?🇳🇴💸 Then I believe we have experienced a mutual scenario ➡️ standing in the grocery store, staring at the price of cheese and whispering to ourselves… «Latterlig dyrt!» 🧀😂 = «Ridiculously expensive».

Yes, Norway can feel quite expensive for most wallets and salaries. Groceries, haircuts, taxis, eating out at cafes and restaurants, even a regular coffee. But when you start understanding why, it also starts to make (a bit more) sense.

High wages, «fair» working conditions, and quality products are all part of what makes the price tags.

Here’s the truth: you can still live well in Norway without breaking the bank.
 💰 Buy secondhand on Tise, Finn.no or Facebook groups.  💰 Look for «tilbud» (sales) and «Trippel Trumf»days, download the «Æ»-app if you do grocery shopping at Rema 1000 or become a «Coop member».   💰 Brew your coffee at home and bring it in a (cute, YES it helps to feel that extra vibe) thermos like a true Norwegian.

Because yes, it’s latterlig dyrt sometimes, but it’s also latterlig beautiful when you learn to live like a local ♥️🤍💙

I know it can be a mismatch with your initial expectations, and even worse your financially responsibilities. I have been there.

 That «Jeg er fysen på litt…» moment.

It can be a bit embarrassing at times to talk about what we find scary. Maybe because it opens us up to being vulnerable?

Whether it is starting a new job, speaking Norwegian in public, or maybe just walking outside when it’s dark.

We’ve all been there♥️

In Norwegian, we say «Jeg synes det er skummelt å…» when we want to express that something makes us a little afraid or nervous.
 It’s one of those phrases that’s simple, but so useful when you’re learning how to share your feelings and experiences in everyday life.

And here’s important thing to remember, by saying it out loud doesn’t make you weaker.
 It makes you human.
 It makes you relatable.
 And it helps people connect with you (and maybe even say, «Same!»).

So the next time you feel nervous about something, try saying it in Norwegian:

Our Thailand adventure captured in a minute!?

So one of the MANY perks of being married to Arzy, is that he is from India. We first got married in Australia, the country that brought us together🇦🇺

And then for our second wedding we traveled from Norway to India all together with our friends and family. It was such a wild experience to be able to see everyone in India🇮🇳

We had a beautiful assamese wedding, and I still get chills looking back on the pictures realizing that I wasn’t just a guest, I was actually THE BRIDE😂

I love to celebrate every occasion I can🎉 Therefore we choose to sit in gratitude for our our marriage. All the fantastic moments we have created, our two beautiful kids, our businesses and purposes and to all that is to come♥️🌱

Finding a job in Norway can feel like running a marathon in slow motion 🏃‍♀️🇳🇴 AND you have no idea when the finish line will be within reach.

You send applications.
 You wait.
 You hear… NOTHING🥵🤯
 And then you wonder, is it me, my Norwegian, or just how things work here in Norway.

Here’s my belief and experience: it’s often a mix of language, culture, and connections, not your skills.
 Norway has what people call a «hidden job market,» and many jobs go to people through nettverk (connections/network).
 And that can feel impossible when you’ve just arrived.

But every time you practice small sentences like:
 «Jeg synes det er vanskelig å få jobb.» «Jeg har søkt på mange jobber.»
 you’re doing something to make you grow. You’re communicating your experience and connecting with the people AROUND you.

The more you talk about it, the easier it gets.
 So don’t stop. Keep learning, keep talking, keep showing up 🇳🇴

If you don’t live in Norway, you have probably heard the rumors about the Norwegian prices, and let me tell you they are true hah!

If you live in Norway already, you know exactly what I mean. Groceries, taxis, haircuts… sometimes it feels like your wallet is crying before you even get to the cashier 😅😅

Recently I read somewhere that you shouldn’t say that things are expensive ➡️ they are just not fitted into your CURRENTLY budget. I’m in my mindset expansive journey, so I’ll jump on that thought for a minute, but honestly just for a minute until I go to the grocery store to buy cheese for our pizza🤪🥵

But here’s the thing if you already live here and let’s motivate each other to adapt.

So what you can do is look for «tilbud» (sales), buy secondhand, and make coffee at home ☕

Because while it’s expensive, you also get what you pay for quality, safety, and a system that takes care of its people.

So next time you see the price of butter and gasp, just say:

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how often we answer on autopilot.
«Hvordan føler du deg?» «Bra». When learning a new language especially then you might just know just a couple of words to describe how you are, and usually that’s just the positive. But for some occasions we might sometimes need a bit more detailed and not so superficial way to reply.

That’s why «Jeg føler meg…» is one of my favorite phrases in Norwegian.
 It’s simple enough for beginners, but honest enough for REAL life.

Some days I say: !Jeg føler meg sliten.» = I feel tired.
 Other days:
 «Jeg føler meg takknemlig.» =I feel grateful.
 Learning to express your feelings, even with small simple words, is a kind of power🔥
 You don’t need perfect grammar to be understood.
 You just need honesty.
